Heritage

This is a call to those who believe that places of significance deserve thoughtful care and continued investment.

At Trent, architecture and landscape work together to shape how people learn, gather, and connect. Here, curiosity is sparked, and breakthroughs take shape.

For more than sixty years, these places have supported not only academic success but also a deeper sense of belonging and accountability to the world beyond campus.

As Trent grows, so does the responsibility to care for its architectural heritage. Together, we can ensure that future generations continue to learn and grow in spaces that are as inspiring as the ideas they cultivate.

Renewing a Landmark that Connects Campus

Every university has a place that quietly holds its character. At Trent, that place is the Faryon Bridge. Since its construction in 1968, it has stretched across the Otonabee River as the only on-campus link between east and west, supporting daily movement and campus life. It carries thousands of crossings each day and serves as a vital conduit for essential services.

Now, the bridge requires significant rehabilitation to remain functional and true to its original design. This multi-year project will renew the structure, preserve its defining architectural features, and ensure it continues to support the University community.

Your investment will help sustain a landmark that brings the campus together and supports the flow of daily life at Trent.

A Gathering Place that Sustains Community

Champlain College was designed as the centrepiece of Trent’s collegiate model, bringing together residences, seminar rooms, and shared spaces within one academic community. The Great Hall anchors this design.

Throughout the day, students return to its long wooden tables to share meals, study, talk, or take a quiet moment for themselves. College dinners, ceremonies, and community gatherings animate the space and deepen its role in daily campus life.

The Great Hall now requires critical renewal, beginning with the roof and extending to structural and interior upgrades.

With your support, the Great Hall can be renewed to serve students and community life for decades to come.
