About Dr. Harry Kitchen
Dr. Harry M. Kitchen is Professor Emeritus of Economics at Trent University and a nationally respected expert in municipal finance, governance, and public policy. Over a four-decade career at Trent, he advised governments and international organizations on fiscal policy and municipal reform.
Professor Kitchen is the recipient of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal for his contributions to municipal policy research and has served as a Visiting Scholar at the University of Toronto’s Munk School of Global Affairs. He has published widely and is co-author of the influential textbook, Canadian Tax Policy.
The Harry Kitchen Lecture in Public Policy was founded in 2007 to honour his legacy by bringing leading policy thinkers to Trent to engage students and the public on issues shaping communities and governments.
